The QCD phase diagram and the gamma-ray bursts

چکیده
Phase transitions which can take place in matter at different temperatures and densities are seen in the quantum chromodynamics diagram. The possibility that gamma-ray bursts might result from a phase change in the interior of a pulsar is discussed in the present work. The energy released in the conversion of a metastable star into a stable star is calculated and shown to be of the order of 10–10 erg, accounting for both long and short gamma ray bursts.

Color Superconductivity in Quark Stars: Powering Gamma Ray Bursts
A two flavors color superconductive phase has been suggested as a plausible state of quark matter at high density. An intrinsic property of such a state is the generation of light particles which immediately decay into photons. Here, we explore the possibility for such a state to set in at the surface of a quark star where temperatures below Tc (the critical temperature above which color superc...
متن کاملSwift Identification of Dark Gamma-ray Bursts
We present an optical flux vs. X-ray flux diagram for all known gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) for which an X-ray afterglow has been detected. We propose an operational definition of dark bursts as those bursts that are optically subluminous with respect to the fireball model, i.e., which have an optical-to-X-ray spectral index βOX < 0.5. Out of a sample of 52 GRBs we identify 5 dark bursts. The defin...

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are tremendous explosions visible across most of the Universe, certainly out to redshifts of z = 4.5 and likely out to z ∼ 10. Recently, GRBs have been found to have a roughly constant explosive energy as well as to have two luminosity indicators (the spectral lag time and the variability) that can be used to derive the burst’s luminosity distance from the gammaray light...
متن کاملHubble diagrams of soft and hard radiation sources in the graviton background: to an apparent contradiction between supernova 1a and gamma-ray burst observations
In the sea of super-strong interacting gravitons, non-forehead collisions with gravitons deflect photons, and this deflection may differ for soft and hard radiations. As a result, the Hubble diagram would not be a universal function and it will have a different view for such sources as supernovae in visible light and gamma-ray bursts. Observations of these two kinds are compared here with the l...
متن کاملWaves on Noncommutative Spacetime and Gamma-ray Bursts
Quantum group Fourier transform methods are applied to the study of processes on noncommutative Minkowski spacetime [x, t] = ıλx. A natural wave equation is derived and the associated phenomena of in vacuo dispersion are discussed. Assuming the deformation scale λ is of the order of the Planck length one finds that the dispersion effects are large enough to be tested in experimental investigati...
